President's Message
I almost reprinted my comments from the October newsletter. The important items continue to be the election of a new chapter board at the mandatory general meeting on November 21st. TheIPSSA water certification test at 6:00 p.m. the day of the meetmg and the chapter installation dinner dance/casino night on December 8th. I would like to stress participation in the blood drive to be held prior to the meeting onthe2lst. Ihavean appomtment at 2:40 p.m. What time are you scheduled to donate? Call John Silcox at 858-467-0507. Walk-ups are welcome. Please give yourself enough time.

October 17, 2001 General Meeting

Called to order 7:13 PM 

Greeters:

There were 37 members and 9 guests in attendance.

Introduction of Guests

Daniel Charland ofAmerican Leak Detection, Brandon Chase of Sunchasers, Jim Frazee of Superior Pool Products-San Diego, Tony Ruf of Brite-Tile, William Stapleton of Like New Pools, prospective members John Balster & Martin Bohaty Honorary Members John Gharib and Al Daugherty

Guest Speakers

David Haas was the featured speaker tonight. David runs a large pool service business in northern California. David also finds time to present informative seminars on running a successfiil business. Tonight he presented a few ideas we can incorporate into our businesses and private lives.

Some examples were: Evaluate your business constantly. Have a plan for your business. Think long term for your business. What do I want to do? Who do I want to work for? (customer profile). Where do I want to do my work? Careflilly prioritize your time, business vs. private.

Secretary's Report

September General meeting minutes and October Board meeting minutes were accepted as printed.

Treasurer's Report

We're looking good financially.  See the financial report in the printed Skimmer.

President's Report

Congratulations to Mike Gregg, the new Region 7 Director

Next B.O.R.D meeting will be held on 10/10/2001

The picnic was a success in making money. The balance in the picnic flind is approximately $7,900.00.

The water chemistry test will be given before the November General Meeting, at 6:00 pm. Remember, all members must take the test at least once per year unless you are akeady certified.

The Test should be available to take at the January 5th table top.

Vice President's Report

Prospective members: Martin Bohaty and John Balster were present tonight. Both have attended three meetings.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Sick Leave

Trudy has sold her pools, thanks to the members for servicing the pools during her absence. Dee Eakright will be going out in a couple of weeks.

Blood Drive

Blood Drive November 21st at the mandatory general meeting the bloodmobile will be there from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Considering recent events, this wo~ld be an excellent time to donate blood.

Each member or family member who donates blood can win one of five $100 prizes.

In the last two years we have donated 88 units of blood.

Chapter Advisor 

Entertainment

The Installation Dinner Dance will be held at the Admiral Kidd Club on Dec. 8th We will have a casino night.

Continuing Education

John Silcox received $25 for attending the PIE Show.

C.P.O classes Will be held on Nov. 5,6,&7.

Public Relations

We have one FNS Plus 60 filter. $300.00

New Business

A motion was made to make a $1000.00 donation to the San Diego Blood Bank. There was a second. The motion passed.

Nominations for new chapter board members will take place 31 at the November General Meeting. Some nominations were made tonight. Tom Gliarib accepted the nomination for Vice President and Geoff Conradi accepted the nomination for Treasurer.

Board Meeting - November 7, 2001
Called to order at 7:04pm
Attending: John Silcox~ John NichoL Jon Rumble, John Baldwin, Mike Gregg, Mike Anderson and Marc Stewart.

Seeretary's Report 

Received a copy of the letter detailing Tony Ruf's cancellation of his membership.

Treasurer's Report

Marc wrote a great letter to the San Diego Blood Bank detailing our $1,000.00 donation.

Attendance fmes from last quarter were paid on time.
(See the printed Skimmer for the detailed financial report).

Vice President's Report

John Balster & Martin Bohaty took the chapter entrance test this evening. John Balster passed the test and is eligible to be voted in at the next general meeting.

Pool Covers West should be dropped from the chapter supporters list.

There will be no speaker at the November general meeting.

President's Report

11/27/01 Region 7 Meeting.

Mike Gregg will be attending the Nov. l0th BORD meeting as the new Region 7 Director.

The Water Chemistry Test will be given prior to the November 21st mandatory General Meeting. Remember, you must take this test at least one time this calendar year!

The following members have been excused from the November General Meeting: Spencer Ross, Eric Petersen, Russ LIargrove, Bruce DeHart & Terry Bussard.

Chapter hoard elections will be held at the Nov. meeting.

ENTERTAINMENT

The menu for the Installation Dinner has been fixed. The budget for the event is $9,000.00. It will be held on Dec. 8th from 6pm to 11pm. See the flyer in the printed Skimmer.

We discussed raising chapter supporter fees. There was a motion to increase chapter supporter fees to a minimum of $250.00 depending on the advertisement size, effective January 1st. 2002. There was a second and the motion passed.
