Introduction of Guests David Corey of Pool Surfacing 2000, Kenny Lawson of Altec Pools, Brandon Chase of Sunchasers, Oscar Dike of FiberKote, Mark Henry and Honorary Member Dick Church. Guest Speakers Tim Splinter of Cheyenne Pools spoke to us this evening about pool plaster. He introduced us to the different finishes available, what is being done in the way of additives to harden and extend the life of plaster. Tim also answered our questions on the subject of pool plastering. Secretary's Report October meeting minutes were accepted as printed. Treasurer's Report We're looking good financially. See the financial report in the printed Skimmer. President's Report Make sure you keep your copy of changes to the standing rules I found in your November skimmer. TableTop will be 03/03/01. Bill Peck informed us that SPEC takes independent memberships - $50.00. SPEC helps us at the legislative level, to help fight improper legislation. Alan Jacket spoke to the membership regarding his sick leave fine. The board had fined Alan. A motion was made to let stand the action that the hoard had taken. There was a second, it was voted on and passed. Vice President's Report The Possible January speaker will be John Tyron. COMMITTEE REPORTS Sick Leave Sick leave points report was updated. No one is out at this time. Blood Drive The next blood drive will be held on Dec.16 2000. Denny's Restaurant 8:00a.m. off 70th & 1-8. Come and have a free breakfast and perform a great service. 4 people showed up on October 21st Continuing Education Spencer Ross, Tim Decker. Bob Fowler and Jon McArthur received checks for attending heater classes. Upcoming classes: Jan. 30 - Pac Fab. Heaters, Compool controls & pumps. Western Pool & Spa show on Feb. 8, 9 & l0th. Table Top is on Mar. 3rd. Laars heater school on Mar. 17th. & controls on Mar. 18th. Chapter Advisor Peat inspected a pool with a plaster problem. It was determined that it was calcium bleeding through, so a replastering was avoided. Entertainment The Christmas party is coming on December 2, 2000. Dress nicely, good prizes this year dvd players, t.v. '5, limo to dinner. Don't miss out. Manufacturing Rebates Turn in your 2000 receipts to Jon McArthur. Heaters are upcoming. The following members did not attend the mandatory meeting in November:
Abel Morales was excused from the meeting by taking a pro-active stance and contacting the president prior to the meeting. The following members did not attend any general membership meetings
in the 4th qtr. 2000:
A motion was made to assess a fme of $100.00 for not attending the mandatory meeting. It was seconded and passed. Members not attenduig any meetings in the quarter were fmed $150.00 (per the standing rules) in addition to the mandatory meeting fme. Treasurer's Report Mark presented his monthly report of income and expenses. As always we are in good shape financially. (See printed Skimmer for the detailed report). Another $1,400.00 will be deposited. Chapter supporters have sent in checks for the food at the November meeting. Vice President's Report No new prospective members. Mike is working on 3 banners for IPSSA that are approximately 3' x 5'. Bill Peck will be speaking to us in January. He will discuss the Sea-Klear Start up Method. President's Report Next BORD meeting is February 23. 2001 at 1:00 p.m. in Newport Beach. Leadership Seminar will be held Feb.24, 2001. An lPSSA scholorship fund is being established, they are expecting donations from the chapters. We will discuss this further in January. A motion was made to donate $500.00 to a charity to benefit the needy. Which charity, to be determined by the board. There was a second and the motion passed. Committee Reports SICK LEAVE Mario Padilla is out and should be back around Dec. l2th. You did a great job of picking up those yellow cards in record breaking time, thanks to all of you who are covering Mario's pools. REMEMBER: If you are going on vacation or slipping away for a few days. you need to inform the sick leave committee so that there will not be any confusion with sick leave pool assignments.
