I hope you take a moment to congratulate Marc Stewart as the recipient of the chapter B.K. Taylor Memorial Award. We are fortunate to have members like Marc who give of their time and talents to improve the chapter. Attendance at the November general meeting is mandatory for all members. The chapter benefits by having us all together at least once a year. The chapter will be providing food at the meeting in an effort to give something back to the members. Please arrive at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. Thank you to the chapter supporters who donated funds to help offset the cost of the food. American Leak Detection, Cheyenne Pools, Fiberkote Fiberglass Coatings, Poolsafe Cover Systems, Pool Surfacing 2000, South Central Pool Supply, Sunchaser Solar and Suntrek Thermal-Solar Pool Heaters. Tim Splinter of Cheyenne Pools will be the featured speaker. He will discuss the proper steps to startup a pool and answer questions about pool construction, surfaces, stains, etc JON
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING Called to order 7:00 PM Greeters: David Jaszczak There were 42 members and 8 guests in attendance. Introduction of Guests David Courey of Pool Surfacing 2000, Red Barrett SCP. Steve Geir of Neozyne Intl., Marvin Schulte of Clearwater USA., Mike Rice of Hallmark Pools and Honorary Member Dick Church. Guest Speakers Steve Geir of Neozyne Intl. introduced us to chemicals his company sells that clean up organics in the pool water. This is accomplished by speeding up mother natures process by increasing the dissolved oxygen. Marvin Schulte of Clearwater USA showed us his companies saltwater chlorinating systems. They are self cleaning. Red Barrett of SCP spoke to us about some of the programs they have ic: Door hangers, customer survey forms for all aspects of pool maintenance & repairs for customers. All of this is available on the net at SCP.com. Secretary's Report September meeting minutes were accepted as printed. Treasurer's Report We're looking good financially. See the fmancial report in the printed Skimmer. President's Report Contract renewal for the meeting room is coming up. A motion was made to allow the board to meet and discuss the room contract. There was a second & the motion carried. Please check the lobby for directions and room assignnient for our meetings. We hope to see Rick Bishop soon so that he may give the water chemistry test. Vice President's Report There will be some food provided at the mandatory November meeting. lt will be snack, so eat dinner before coming. A motion was made to rescind the standard rule that we have pizza night every quarter, until the board has a chance to discuss it and pick it up a fmancially. There was a second and some discussion. A vote was taken and the motion carried. COMMITTEE REPORTS Sick Leave Trudy will be returning to work on Monday 10/23/00. Blood Drive The next blood drive will be held on October 21.2000. Denny's Restaurant 8:00a.m. off 70th & 1-8. Come and have a free breakfast and perform a great service~ Continuing Education Raypak heater school 10/26 -fee $45.00 ENTERTAINAMENT The Christmas party is coming on December 2,2000. MANUFACTURING REBATES We are receiving a check from Sta-Rite for $1.716.80 and a credit for their hydraulics school. Four heaters corning from Laars, one from Raypak. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Water chernistry books are now available. Please see Mike Gregg. The water chemistry test will be given at the Table Top on March 3,, 2001. A motion was made that the chapter make it mandatory that aH members who have not passed the water chemistry certification test, take the test at least once a year until they pass the test. They have two years to pass. After that it is at the discretion of the board. Beginning January 2001. There was a second, there was discussion. A vote was taken and the motion carried. New Business The following members were nominated for the B.K. Taylor award.

We will be meeting in Salon - A for the Mandatory November meeting. Come early, we will have food at 6:30 pm. The Mandatory Meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. We can't pay a flat fee to bring in our own food. We discussed the menu, we will be having turkey and potato salad. A food at the Mandatory November meeting and the cost will not exceed $2000.00. Seconded. Carried. Lowery Consulting Group puts on a seminar on water chemistry. This includes a book and eight hours of intense instruction. We need at least 20 people in the San Diego area. The cost will be $225.00 per person, possibly less with more people attending. Up to one half of this would be paid for by the S.D. chapter for its members. Please contact Jon MeArthur for details.
