I will make this brief since John Nichol is waiting by his FAX machine for my comments. I hope you all take a moment to thank John for his work in producing this newsletter. He stepped up when we needed someone. The next Board of regional Director's meeting will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday August 26 at Humphrey's Half Moon Inn in San Diego. I listened to Bob, A.J. and John talk each year about the importance of strong chapter representation when the BORD meets in our area. I didn't think that I could change anything by just showing up. I was wrong. We will hold a drawing among the members that attend for an A.O. Smith motor. Please plan on attending. JON THE MEETING WILL START NO LATER THAN 7:00 P.M.
There were 46 members and 3 guests in attendance. Introduction of Guests Brandon Chase of Sun Chasers, David Courey of PS2000 & Daniel Charland of American Leak Detection. Guest Speakers Paul Grimes spoke to us about some of the different kinds of computer hardware and software you need for using on the internet. Paul showed us what your internet site will look like, how to use bookmarks and favorites on the task bar. Please continue to get your information to Paul, for your internet site. Brandon Chase of Sun Chasers discussed his background in the industry, eight years in business and 3 years as a contractor. Brandon provided some information on the Solar Industries Panel manufactured by Aqua Therm. A couple of reasons he likes this product is there use of stainless steel hardware and easy to assemble and disassemble. Check out the hand outs. Secretary's Report May minutes were approved as printed in the June 2000 skimmer. Treasurer's Report Marc Stewart was not present. There were no questions regarding the income/expense report. We will be removing adds in the skimmer of chapter supporters who are not paying. President’s Report Jon Rumble Infant Accreditation Swimming Program. A program that teaches infants to turn on there backs and float etc. See Jon for more information. SPEC is in the black financially. Vice President’s Report Mike Gregg has been making sure we have signs up in all the supply houses, to inform people about the San Diego IPSSA chapter. COMMITTEE REPORTS Sick Leave Howards doctor report: about 4 to 6 weeks longer. Hang in there guys, everyone is doing a great job. BLUE CARDS ARE DUE JULY 19, 2000. Entertainment Committee Sky show was a great success. The summer picnic will be a weatern barbecue. It is our chapters job to acquire the site and hold it. So we need some volunteers for this job. So please contact the committee you adventurous early risers. Blood Drive
Next blood drive will be June 24, 2000. Continuing Education Manufacturing Rebate We have qualified for 5 heaters from Teledyne Laars. We still have unresolved issues with Sta-Rite from 1999. Grievance Hasa will look into the color smilarities of its bottles. Product testing Public Relations Dan Moelke received recognition for his Scholarship Fund at his high school graduation. Congradulations Dan!! Good of the Order We have a member who is having trouble with newly plastered gray bottom pools, getting white spots all over them. We will have an update on this problem at the July mtg. Raffle Peat Burke won the $50.00 Patrick Schultheis won $25.00 Adjourment: 9:07p.m.

Treasurer's Report Mark presented his monthly report of income and expenses. As always we are in good shape financially. (See print version of Skimmer for the detailed report). We paid out the Dan Moelke Scholarship money. Some chapter supporter adds will be dropped. Vice President's Report Mike is checking out an apprenticeship program for those who don't have one year of work experience. Sharie Shipley with Life Sharing Community Organ Donations, will be speaking on organ tissue awareness donations. Paul Grimes will be showing us the internet site, this time with the help of a projector, so we all can easily see the results of his hard work. President's Report BORD meeting minutes: IPSSA Management says Insurance claims on popped spas are rising. There will be an article in the IPSSAN on how to avoid this problem, when draning a spa. Region 7 Minutes: Sally Ryan will be retIring. The IPSSA web site will be up and running. The next BORD meeting will be August 26, 2000 ~ Humphrey's on Shelter Island. We discussed whether as a chapter we would get involved producing a "'pool watchers badge". This would be a safety device and a form of advertising IPSSA and the chapter. Commiftee Reports Sick Leave: Howard Guerrant is seeing the doctor to see when he can return to work. A motion was made to extend the sick leave for Howard for another four weeks. It was carried.
